Garden Docents

Garden Docent Program

Green Thumbs Wanted!

The Garden Docent program provides hands-on lessons and experience that expose students to the beauty and wonder of a working garden. Students visit the garden for lessons on topics such basic gardening skills, environmental stewardship, nutrition, life sciences, healthy living, and composting. In the process, they learn valuable lessons about the concept of cause and effect, problem solving, teamwork, and responsibility. And it’s just plain fun to dig in the dirt and get a little messy.

Garden Docent Volunteers

Parents who volunteer as Garden Docents collaborate with other docents in their grade level and teach prepared lessons about gardening, nature, and science once or twice a month.  All supplies for prepared lessons are funded by the PTA.

Annual Plant Sale

We will hold a plant sale each spring to raise funds for the program. We will need volunteers to help propagate plants, complete crafts with the kids, and set up and work at the sale.   We will reach out when it's time to sign up for this event.
